Wayne Trace is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will take on the Paulding Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Wayne Trace is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Wayne Trace didn't have quite enough to beat Coldwater and fell 5-4. The Raiders have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Paulding strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Edon as they made off with an 18-2 win. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Tia Mendez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Luci Martinez was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Madison Clark, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Paulding lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Wayne Trace's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Paulding, their record is now 3-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Wayne Trace has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Paulding struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wayne Trace couldn't quite finish off Paulding when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
