Mallard Creek and Chambers are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2014, but not for long. The Mallard Creek Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Chambers Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Mallard Creek is ranked 21st, while Chambers is ranked 11th).
After only six points in their last matchup, Mallard Creek made sure to put some points up on the board against West Mecklenburg on Friday. Everything went Mallard Creek's way against West Mecklenburg as Mallard Creek made off with a 33-7 victory. The result was nothing new for Mallard Creek, who have now won four games by 26 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Chambers entered their tilt with West Charlotte with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Chambers took down West Charlotte 30-14 on Friday. Chambers pushed the score to 24-0 by the end of the third, a deficit West Charlotte cut but never quite recovered from.
Chambers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tre Robinson led the charge by throwing for 136 yards and three touchdowns. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. Jeremiah Harrison also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Mallard Creek now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Chambers, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Things could have been worse for Mallard Creek, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-13 loss to Chambers in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Mallard Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
