Softball Recap: Mountain Brook Sets Scoring Season-High Against Huffman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Brook). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Huffman Vikings a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Emma Durr looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Minich, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last ten matchups. Another player making a difference was Marianna Murray, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Mountain Brook's victory bumped their record up to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Mountain Brook will be playing in front of their home fans against Leeds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Huffman, they will square off against Center Point at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
