Winter Haven is 8-0 against Haines City since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Winter Haven Blue Devils will square off against the Haines City Hornets at TBD. Winter Haven will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Winter Haven had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed by Durant on the road to the tune of 72-34 on Wednesday. Winter Haven has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.
Quin?nya Gray de sanders was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Hardy, who scored 19 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Haines City had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They strolled past George Jenkins with points to spare, taking the game 53-35. Given Haines City's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while George Jenkins is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Winter Haven has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Haines City, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Everything went Winter Haven's way against Haines City in their previous matchup back in January as Winter Haven made off with a 70-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winter Haven since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
