Patriot has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Gar-Field Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Patriot's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They and Mountain View were almost perfectly matched up, but Patriot suffered an agonizing 14-13 defeat. While losing is never fun, Patriot can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Mountain View is ranked sixth).
Gar-Field fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Hylton on Friday as Gar-Field made off with a 27-7 victory. Gar-Field pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Hylton cut but never quite recovered from.
Mountain View's victory bumped their season record to 8-0 while Patriot's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Patriot strolled past Gar-Field in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 by a score of 35-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Patriot since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
