Natchitoches Central is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Many is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Natchitoches Central will host Many at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Natchitoches Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Byrd with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Chiefs have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Many won against Red River on Friday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Many beat Red River by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 19-17. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Lathan Lee was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had over his last four games. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Many got a massive performance out of Ryder Gunter, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. What's more, Gunter posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Sylvia, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Many kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Natchitoches Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. Many's victory bumped their record up to 14-12.
Natchitoches Central was able to grind out a solid win over Many when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Will Natchitoches Central repeat their success, or does Many has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
