It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Calvary Christian Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over Dunellen. The victory was just business as usual for Calvary Christian, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Dunellen's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamael Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Davis is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Vibert Reynolds, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dunellen were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Dunellen, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dunellen at 5:30 p.m. on January 24, 2024. Dunellen will finish 2023 at home by hosting Academy for Urban Leadership Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
