It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Town can now relate to. They suffered a tough 28-6 loss at the hands of Milford Mill Academy on Saturday. New Town's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Milford Mill Academy found their leader in underclassman Michael Smith, who rushed for 141 yards on only 14 carries. Cam Jefferson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
New Town's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Milford Mill Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
New Town does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Milford Mill Academy will be playing at home against Potomac at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Potomac will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Milford Mill Academy is ranked 28th).
