Hillside made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hillside Hornets blew past the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans 17-2 on Tuesday. The Hornets' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Tierney Bailey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bailey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Hillside got a massive performance out of Arianna Crews, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Crews is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Foster, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Hillside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Hillside's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillside will host South Garner at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
