Basketball Game Preview: Trezevant Bears vs. Lakeland Preparatory Lions

Trezevant is 3-0 against Lakeland Preparatory since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Trezevant Bears will host the Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lakeland Preparatory will be up against a hot Trezevant squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Trezevant blew past KIPP Collegiate 67-13 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-5.

Trezevant's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was SHELBY GRAY, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 assists. Those 13 assists gave GRAY a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JUSTICE DUNLAP, who went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points in addition to eight assists and four steals.

GRAY wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Trezevant was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeland Preparatory). They breezed by Sheffield to the tune of 60-15 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Lakeland Preparatory has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.9 points per game. As for Trezevant, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Everything came up roses for Trezevant against Lakeland Preparatory when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-29 win. Does Trezevant have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lakeland Preparatory turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
