The Marion-Franklin Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 87-65 defeat at the hands of Walnut Ridge. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (60), Marion-Franklin still had to take the loss.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terry Black, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Black hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tito Glass, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.
Walnut Ridge had a senior duo take command as Lj Foster scored 35 points along with two steals and Dominique Aekins dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foster has scored all season. Deon Johnson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Marion-Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Walnut Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Marion-Franklin will head out on the road to face off against the Nubians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
