The Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Pennington Red Raiders. Mercersburg Academy snuck past Pennington with a 62-56 win. The victory was just what Mercersburg Academy needed coming off of a 71-50 defeat in their prior contest.
Mercersburg Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thaddeus Lee, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lee has scored at least 25% of Mercersburg Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erik Oliver-Busch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
Mercersburg Academy's win was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Pennington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Mercersburg Academy will be playing at home against St. James at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. James' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. Pennington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Friends' Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th.
