The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Dr. Joaquin Garcia at home to the tune of 42-0. The result was nothing new for Archbishop McCarthy, who have now won six games by 27 points or more so far this season.
Archbishop McCarthy found their leader in underclassman Robert Kerns, who threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Alexandre, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Archbishop McCarthy's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Somerset Prep and 1-8 Dr. Joaquin Garcia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 20.5% over those games). As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
