The Etowah Blue Devils typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Leeds Greenwave proved too difficult a challenge. Leeds took down Etowah 50-34. The victory was all the more spectacular given Leeds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Etowah is ranked 39th).
Leeds' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Burge, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Burge hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabari Davis, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Leeds and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Etowah, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leeds won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Lincoln is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Etowah, they will head out on the road to face off against Talladega at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Talladega is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
