Cambridge Springs hasn't had much luck against Saegertown recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:00 p.m.
Last Wednesday, Cambridge Springs came up short against Rocky Grove and fell 10-5.

Brett Kania was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Cambridge Springs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Matthew Ross made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Brandon Hoover also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Saegertown waltzed into their contest on Saturday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Orioles 4-2. The four-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Like Cambridge Springs, Saegertown also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyler Cherpak. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Cherpak a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Saegertown let William Shaffer and Luke Young run wild. Shaffer got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Young got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Riley Wilkinson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cambridge Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Saegertown, their win bumped their record up to 12-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cambridge Springs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saegertown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cambridge Springs might still be hurting after the 17-1 loss they got from Saegertown when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
