The Germantown Red Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Memphis Central Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Germantown knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Memphis Central likes a good challenge.
Germantown barely beat Kirby the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Germantown's way against Kirby on Tuesday as Germantown made off with a 19-9 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Bradyn Morris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Omar Castillo, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Auston Walker, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3.
Germantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kirby only posted a batting average of .308.
Meanwhile, Memphis Central came up short against St. Benedict at Auburndale on Wednesday and fell 9-6.
Joshua Thurmon put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thurmon was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Memphis Central is 4-1 when Thurmon posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Orlando Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Memphis Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Germantown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Germantown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. However, it's not like Memphis Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .573. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Germantown couldn't quite get it done against Memphis Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-10. Can Germantown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
