Plainfield South has been on the road for five straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Joliet West Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Plainfield South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Plainfield South came up short against Romeoville and fell 51-39.
Despite the defeat, Plainfield South got a solid performance out of Destynia Mcgruder, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Mcgruder scored a full 30.8% of Plainfield South's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Mezewich, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, Joliet West earned a 57-48 win over Joliet Central on Tuesday. The win was just what Joliet West needed coming off of a 79-39 defeat in their prior match.
Their wins bumped Plainfield South to 2-3 and Romeoville to 4-1.
Plainfield South ended up a good deal behind Joliet West when the teams last played back in January, losing 74-57. Thankfully for Plainfield South, Destiny McNair (who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
