Zak Leija Turns in Season-Best Effort
Sadly, Zak Leija posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Teague over Fairfield on Friday. Leija rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He has become a key player for Teague: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
Leija must have Fairfield's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Leija last faced the Eagles back in November of 2023, he rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
