The Southwestern Warriors and the Cooper Jaguars squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Southwestern Warriors had to settle for second. Southwestern took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cooper. Southwestern's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Cooper found their leader in underclassman Keagan Maher, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Another reason for the win was Cooper's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Austin Alexander was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Southwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Cooper, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Southwestern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cooper is on the road again on Friday and play against Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kentucky (Highlands is ranked seventh, while Cooper is ranked 13th).
