Northern is 0-4 against Oxon Hill since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Northern Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Oxon Hill Clippers at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Northern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 70-58 win over Chopticon. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Alec Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 15 boards. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Frances Ballord-Conteh, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.
Meanwhile, Oxon Hill strolled past Crossland with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 61-43. Given the Clippers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northern better keep an eye on Nigel Harris. He was instrumental in Oxon Hill's win, putting up 25 points. That's the most points Harris has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Donnell Dorsey, who had 13 points.
Northern pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for Oxon Hill, their record now sits at 17-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Northern and Oxon Hill are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Northern hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.4 points per game. However, it's not like Oxon Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Northern suffered a grim 56-36 defeat to Oxon Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Northern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
