Falkner is 2-7 against Byers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Falkner Eagles will square off against the Byers Lions at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Falkner strolled past Jumpertown with points to spare, taking the game 73-55.
Falkner's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Elijah Mauney, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Chris Nunley, who scored 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nunley has scored at least a third of Falkner's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chadarrius Bogan, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Byers put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Ashland 90-34 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Byers as they're now sitting on six straight.
Falkner's victory bumped their record up to 10-16. As for Byers, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Falkner took a serious blow against Byers in their previous matchup last Tuesday, falling 69-41. Can Falkner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
