Coronado is 1-9 against Pebble Hills since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Thunderbirds will face off against the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Coronado has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Coronado had taken Franklin down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Thunderbirds have suffered since February 27th.

Jaxon Baptist was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Coronado saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Pebble Hills waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with an 11-2 win.
Damir Ortiz and Adriel Rodriguez dominated on the mound. Ortiz pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Rodriguez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaden Gutierrez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Lopez, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Pebble Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pebble Hills pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-9.
