Having just played yesterday, the Leadership Academy Falcons will get right back to it and host the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leadership Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.9 points per game this season.
Leadership Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Winston-Salem Prep on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Phoenix by a score of 55-53. The Falcons have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Leadership Academy might have lost, but man, Caleb Foster was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Caden Ryker, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter didn't have too much trouble with Bethany Community on Friday as they won 52-38.
Cornerstone Charter's win came from a few key players Leadership Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charles Walker, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Spencer Knight was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 21 rebounds and five steals.
Cornerstone Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Cornerstone Charter's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Leadership Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Leadership Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Cornerstone Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Leadership Academy against Cornerstone Charter in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 80-49 win. Will Leadership Academy repeat their success, or does Cornerstone Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
