MONTICELLO, Miss. - the Tigers scored 26 points in the second quarter to secure a big 40-13 victory over
Lawrence County (Monticello, Miss.) on Saturday.
McComb scored on a rushing touchdown and a kick return in the quarter.
After taking the lead on an
Alex Woodall touchdown run in the first quarter, MHS led 32--6 at the half.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 46 points entering the fourth quarter. McComb scored two times in the third, including once on an
Aquindus Henson touchdown run.
Coming into the game MHS had allowed 18.8 points per game this year. A defensively strong the Tigers kept the Cougars below the 19.7 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Lawrence County. With the win McComb extended its winning streak to three games.
In a 4A Region 7 game next week Lawrence County (3-5) takes on South Pike, and McComb (5-2) will go up against Purvis also in a 4A Region 7 game.
