The Lee Williams Volunteers pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Cortez 71-65. Lee Williams was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
It was another big night for Devan Fowler, who scored 28 points for Cortez. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Fowler has scored at least a third of Cortez's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylin Hunter, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lee Williams has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Cortez, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-11.
Lee Williams will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Flagstaff is ranked 127th, while the Volunteers are ranked 152nd). Cortez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
