The John Paul II Guardians pushed their score all the way to 45 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 70-45 loss to Geneva might stick with them for a while. John Paul II has not had much luck with Geneva recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
John Paul II's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Levi Golla, who threw for 442 yards and five touchdowns. Tayler Rammel was another key contributor, picking up 177 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Jacob Rosenstiel was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Rosenstiel is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of KP Fitzgerald, who gained 233 total yards and two touchdowns.
John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Geneva, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
The Guardians will head out on the road to face off against the Centurions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Centurions are on a four-game streak of home losses, the Guardians a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Geneva will take on Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
