Southside moved up to 129 from 161 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freelance. The Rebels climbed the ranks as a result of a 52-0 win over Connersville.
Heritage Christian suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 54-40 loss to Lafayette Central Catholic. The Eagles had been ranked 22nd, but fell to 28 following the defeat.
Heritage Christian's dynamic duo of Matt Hunt and Anthony Warrum proved tough for the Knights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hunt threw for 403 yards and four touchdowns and Warrum had 183 yards receiving. Ames Walker helped Heritage Christian's passing attack out by catching five balls for 94 yards.
Niko Kilburg made the biggest impact on defense this week as Boone Grove beat Marshall. The 5-foot-11 junior recorded one fumble and racked up one sack.
J.D. Mangas was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 217 yards as Jay County lost to Lafayette Central Catholic. Teammate Cade Price added to the ground attack by rushing for 132 yards.
The Eagles' Hunt and Warrum have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hunt has thrown for 2020 yards this season, while Warrum, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 57 catches for 1025 yards. The Wolves' Cody Poynter leads the league in rushing yards with 1078.
A big matchup in Freelance this week will be when Noblesville Lions takes on Heritage Christian. At the moment, Noblesville Lions is in first, while the Eagles are in eighth.
There should be lots of points scored when Norm Tate's team and Heritage Christian face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Noblesville Lions comes in having scored 293 this season, while the Eagles have scored 272. Noblesville Lions scored 51 points last week as it defeated La Lumiere.
Elkhart Christian Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 30th to 23rd in the league. The Eagles defeated LaVille 2-0 earlier in the week.
