The Hawken Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cleveland Central Catholic 73-46 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hawken as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Hawken found their leader in underclassman Julia Scales, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Scales has scored at least a third of Hawken's points. Another player making a difference was Cami Courtad, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and seven steals.
Cleveland Central Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teavonna Clements, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kare?en Johnson, who scored 12 points.
Hawken's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Hawken will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they will be playing at home against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
