The Littleton Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Green Mountain Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Littleton is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
On Wednesday, Littleton came up short against Bear Creek and fell 52-43.
Littleton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Penny Urquhart, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Jacy Chandler who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.2% of Littleton's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Samantha Hernandez Tobon was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Green Mountain's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Dakota Ridge 46-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Green Mountain came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Dakota Ridge is ranked 143rd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Julia Schafer, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kantyn Pearson, who scored nine points.
Littleton now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Green Mountain, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Littleton took their victory against Green Mountain when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 59-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Littleton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
