The Worth County Tigers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Gilman City Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Worth County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Worth County came up short against North Andrew and fell 49-36. Worth County has not had much luck with North Andrew recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Worth County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kynah Steele, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Steele set a new season high mark in blocks with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Tracy, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gilman City beat Northeast Nodaway 37-33 last Monday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Gilman City.
Worth County bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gilman City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Worth County against Gilman City in their previous meeting back in February of 2019 as the team secured a 58-15 victory. With Worth County ahead 30-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
