The biggest upset of the week belonged to Redwater, who took down 522nd ranked Hooks, 29-7.
The Dragons moved up to 562 from 663 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region II District 8. Redwater was able to make move up by topping the Hornets 29-7.
Mt. Vernon's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alston Sam threw for 125 and one touchdown and Daniel Brown had 49 yards receiving. On the ground Kris Ables chipped in 173 yards. Sakorey Chandler helped Mt. Vernon's passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Mt. Vernon's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 600 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Chandler has 24 catches for 413 yards. Ables leads the league in rushing with 557 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Daingerfield takes on the Tigers. The Tigers are currently in third, while Mt. Vernon is in second.
Daingerfield led 2A-1 Region II District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on Prairiland.
