The Jupiter Christian Eagles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans at 11:30 a.m. on January 19th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Jupiter Christian earned a 48-36 win over Leonard.
Jupiter Christian found their leader in underclassman Emilia Edgar, who scored 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Edgar has scored at least a third of Jupiter Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Altman, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in December of 2023. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 49-22 win over Universal Academy. That looming 49-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sports Leadership & Management yet this season.
Sports Leadership & Management's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Montesdeoca led the charge by scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds. Kalynn Konyah was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Jupiter Christian's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-4. As for Sports Leadership & Management, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Jupiter Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 40.8 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Sports Leadership & Management, though, as they've been averaging only 5.9 rebounds per game. Given Jupiter Christian's sizeable advantage in that area, Sports Leadership & Management will need to find a way to close that gap.
