Morgan (Clinton, Conn.) 20-7.
After taking the lead on a two-point conversion in the second quarter, the Cougars led 8-7 at the half.
Haddam-Killingworth expanded its lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter. HK's lone score in the quarter came on a
Zack Roth touchdown run.
The Huskies'
Cj Saunders played well. The senior wide receiver kicked one extra point.
The Higganum school's most effective player was Cruz. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.
Morgan's lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.
The Cougars entered the contest giving up 27.3 points per game this year. Haddam-Killingworth held firm on the defensive front, and kept MHS well below the 17.4 points it had been averaging per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, HK came away with a 40-6 victory.
With the win the Cougars extended their winning streak to four games.
Morgan (1-5) will play a Pequot - Sassacus game against Nonnewaug next week, while Haddam-Killingworth (4-3) will take on Coginchaug Regional also in a Pequot - Sassacus game.
