Triton is 1-9 against Overhills since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Triton Hawks will be playing at home against the Overhills Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Triton's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
Last Friday, Triton didn't have too much trouble with Pine Forest on the road as they won 69-51.
Triton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Romello Pegues, who scored 22 points. Pegues is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of B. J. Surles, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Overhills' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 60-59 to Westover. While losing is never fun, Overhills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Westover is ranked 44th).
The losing side was boosted by Deshaun Barton, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assist. Another player making a difference was Chauncy Kelly, who scored 11 points.
Triton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Overhills, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Triton have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 46% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Overhills struggles in that department as they've made 38.4% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Triton ended up a good deal behind Overhills in their previous meeting back in January, losing 59-44. Will Triton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
