Baseball Recap: Stoughton Has No Trouble Against Monroe

Stoughton won the last time they faced Monroe and things went their way on Saturday too. The Vikings blew past the Cheesemakers 13-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Saxton Wiest made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Stoughton is undefeated when Wiest posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Hedstrom, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Oliver Pietruszynski was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Stoughton's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
