The Christ the King Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gray Stone Day Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gray Stone Day took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Christ the King, who comes in off a win.
Even though Union Academy scored an imposing 66 points last Monday, Christ the King still came out on top. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Christ the King made off with a 67-66 victory over Union Academy.
Christ the King's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Parker Ryan, who scored 24 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals, and Marco Tampoya, who scored 28 points along with 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Ryan has scored at least 25% of Christ the King's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ryan, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, Gray Stone Day had to start their season on the road two weeks ago, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a rough 70-15 loss at the hands of West Stanly. Gray Stone Day was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-5.
Despite the defeat, Gray Stone Day had strong showings from Gabriel Young, who scored 8 points, and Evan Barber, who scored 0 points.
The losses dropped Christ the King to 1-1 and Union Academy to 0-2.
Christ the King was able to grind out a solid victory over Gray Stone Day when the teams last played back in January of 2019, winning 77-65. Does Christ the King have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gray Stone Day turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
