Softball Recap: North Lenoir Wins Going Away Against Southwest Onslow

North Lenoir won the last time they faced Southwest Onslow and things went their way on Friday too. The Hawks put the hurt on the Stallions with a sharp 18-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Maddie Rouse was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lakyn Whitley was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and two stolen bases. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (five). Alyssa Hatcher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

North Lenoir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest Onslow only posted a batting average of .211.

The victory made it two in a row for North Lenoir and bumps their season record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 6-9 Southwest Onslow and 4-6 James Kenan. As for Southwest Onslow, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Lenoir will host Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Southwest Onslow, they will be playing in front of their home fans against James Kenan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
