The Southmoreland Scotties will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Charleroi Cougars  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
Southmoreland easily dispatched Keystone Oaks last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Southmoreland fell just short of Mars by a score of  11-9 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Charleroi, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Mapletown with a sharp  12-2 victory on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Maples recently, as the game was their third consecutive  win against them.
 Ariahna Blouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  tossed five innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits. Blouse was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more,  she posted two  RBI, the most she's  had since back in March of 2024.
 In other batting news,  Avery Pendo was  incredible,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Those  two  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.  Lyla Brunner was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Charleroi was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mapletown only posted a  batting average of  .200.
 Charleroi's victory was  their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 1-2. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southmoreland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
 Everything went Southmoreland's way against Charleroi in their previous meeting  back in April of 2017, as Southmoreland made off with  a  12-1 victory. Does  Southmoreland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charleroi turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
