Page is a perfect 10-0 against Monument Valley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Sand Devils will welcome the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Page is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Page is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to Chinle. Sand Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Tuesday.
Jaren Scott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Page saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shaine Begay, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Monument Valley lost 19-7 to Tuba City on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Ty Goldtooth was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Moises Rivera was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Page's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-6. As for Monument Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Monument Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Page has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Monument Valley, though, as they've been averaging 11.5 hits. Given Page's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Page took their win against Monument Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-3 score. Do the Sand Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
