Softball Recap: Eastern Wayne Takes a Loss

Eastern Wayne dropped down to 3-4 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 7-0 to the Rosewood Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on March 5th.

As for Rosewood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Rosewood's part, not much got past McCandless St John, who gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks to keep Eastern Wayne off the board. St John has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Eastern Wayne will venture away from home to face off against North Pitt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.22 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rosewood, they will head out to square off against Princeton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
