The Bellevue East Chieftains's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 75-45 loss at the hands of Omaha Central. Bellevue East has not had much luck with Omaha Central recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Bellevue East still got an impressive performance from Malou Atak, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Atak has scored all season.
Omaha Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devin Holmon led the charge by scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. DaShawn Prince was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Bellevue East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Omaha Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue East will take on Fremont at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fremont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. As for Omaha Central, they will be playing at home against Millard West at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Millard West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Omaha Central is ranked 19th).
