Schulenburg is 8-1 against Louise since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Schulenburg Shorthorns will head out on the road to take on the Louise Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Schulenburg suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 62-30 defeat at the hands of Flatonia. While losing is never fun, Schulenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1423rd, while Flatonia is ranked 338th).
Despite the defeat, Schulenburg saw an underclassman step up: Grace Schramek scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals. Alana Herzik was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Louise's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 52-14 loss at the hands of Shiner. Louise was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Schulenburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost 18 of their last 21 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season. As for Louise, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-16.
Schulenburg came up short against Louise in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 40-36. Can Schulenburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
