A.J. Cecil threw for four touchdowns as
Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) upset Fairview (Boulder, Colo.) 55-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on an
Eric Lee Jr. touchdown run in the first quarter, the Eagles were up 42-8 at the half.
Valor Christian expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. VC's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Cecil to
Nathan Whatmore.
The loss snapped Fairview's 12-game winning streak.
Valor Christian's most effective player was Cecil. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
The Eagles went into the matchup giving up only 11.2 points per game. The 14 points that the Knights ended with were well below their average of 45.0 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Fairview, which notched a 38-28 victory over ThunderRidge in its previous outing.
