Lennard is 0-6 against Plant City since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Lennard is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Plant City's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Lennard hadn't allowed a single point the last three times they've hit the field. The Longhorns blew past Lakewood Ranch 35-0 on Friday. Fans of the Longhorns have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Ronnie Wilson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 130 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Lennard, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dorian Burns, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Plant City played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Sumner, falling 44-21. The loss was the Raiders' first of the season.
Lennard will have to contain Maurian Hugee as he made an impact in Plant City's last game. He picked up 106 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 47 yards. Collin Henderson was another key player, having thrown for 331 yards and three touchdowns.
While Plant City came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Sumner: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 44.4%. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for the Raiders; they were averaging 61.8%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 61.8%.
Lennard's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Plant City, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Lennard has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 387.2 total yards per game. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 354.7 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Lennard took a serious blow against Plant City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 55-7. Thankfully for the Longhorns, Chris Denson (who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes, and also rushed for 92 yards and one score on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
