McLean County is 8-2 against Trinity since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will head out to square off against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. McLean County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
McLean County's last matchup with Owensboro could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 11-1 to the Red Devils. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
McLean County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Lynam, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Trinity never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Union County on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Braves by a score of 17-14. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Isaac Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cale Boarman was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Grant Howard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Trinity's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for McLean County, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Trinity's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. McLean County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Trinity, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will McLean County keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
McLean County got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Trinity by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
