The James Kenan Tigers lost against the North Lenoir Hawks back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. James Kenan fell 40-33 to North Lenoir. James Kenan has not had much luck with North Lenoir recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Y'Anna Rivers and RonNyia Joyner certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Rivers dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Joyner scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyah Wilson, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
North Lenoir found their leader in underclassman Ta'Sheena Lynch, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Lynch continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was JayShaynna Kittrell, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
James Kenan's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for North Lenoir, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
James Kenan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clinton at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Clinton is ranked 209th, while James Kenan is ranked 230th). As for North Lenoir, they will head out on the road to square off against South Lenoir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully South Lenoir focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
