5A Region II District 10 recap Nov. 7, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Plano East, who took down 26th ranked Boyd, 22-20.
Plano West was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to fifth in 5A Region II District 10. Earlier in the week, the Wolves triumphed over Plano 37-35.
McKinney's dynamic duo of Robert Somborn and Connor Fuentes proved tough for Allen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Somborn threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns and Fuentes had 129 yards receiving. Tv Williams helped McKinney's passing attack out by catching three balls for 91 yards.
Bryan Driskell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 136 yards as the Broncos fell to the Eagles. Curtis Ladd also contributed to the rushing game with 35 yards on the ground.
McKinney's Somborn and Fuentes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Somborn has thrown for 2574 yards this season, while Fuentes has 66 catches for 1016 yards. Driskell from Boyd leads the league in rushing with 1430 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region II District 10 this week will be when Allen takes on the Wildcats. Tom Westerberg's team is currently in first, while Plano is in seventh.
The Panthers moved up to 83 from 122 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Plano East was able to make move up by topping Don Drake's team 22-20.
