Tahoma has gone 9-1 against Mt. Rainier recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will host the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Tahoma is coming into the match hot, having won their last 16 games.
Mt. Rainier's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Tahoma hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bears never let Kennedy Catholic get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Bears have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Alexa Ramirez, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Kennedy Catholic off the board. Ramirez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tahoma let Kalani Higa and Lily Tausch run wild. Higa went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Tausch got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that Tausch has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Taryn Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tahoma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mt. Rainier came up short against Auburn Riverside on Wednesday, falling 12-2. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost four in a row.
Tahoma pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Rainier, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Tahoma hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Mt. Rainier struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tahoma took their win against Mt. Rainier in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 20-0 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
