Given Pottsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Palmyra is ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pottsville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Alvarez, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Letrel Montone, who scored 15 points.
Pottsville's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Palmyra, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Pottsville and Panther Valley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Panther Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday. As for Palmyra, they will head out on the road to challenge Lower Dauphin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
