The postseason has brought with it a whole lot of change in the power rankings. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
Welcome
Joplin has been an offensive powerhouse for five straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It put the hurt on Lindbergh with a conclusive 56 - 10 victory. One of the main ringleaders for Joplin was junior Isaiah Davis, who ran for 174 yards and also punched in three touchdowns. Thanks to its success, Joplin cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 15th spot.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (12 consecutive games). The final score between Ladue Horton Watkins and St. Mary's was a 42 - 7 blowout in Ladue Horton Watkins's favor. Nevertheless, Ladue Horton Watkins did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
Can't Touch This
Trinity Catholic not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent McCluer South-Berkeley in every quarter. Everything went Trinity Catholic's way against McCluer South-Berkeley as it secured a 71 - 10 win. Trinity Catholic was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. Senior Isaiah Williams was a key playmaker for Trinity Catholic. One of the top players in the power rankings for the week, he rushed for 147 yards and threw for three touchdowns.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Lee's Summit North (3rd in the power rankings) and Rockhurst (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Rockhurst and Lee's Summit North both have plenty of landslide victories under their belts (Rockhurst with seven and Lee's Summit North with six), but only one can come away triumphant this week. We'll find out who that is soon.
